Developmental Editing
The Developmental Editing of a manuscript addresses big-picture elements such as plot, pacing, character development, theme, organization, and clarity.
How does it work?
This service always includes a FREE Discovery Call before finalising the booking: I want to learn about your book from you, to understand the vision of your story and make sure I stay on the same page as you.
I’ll then take some time to read your manuscript and express my feedback. This will include an Editorial Letter and in-manuscript comments that I will deliver to your inbox.
Once you are done revising my suggestions, and BEFORE jumping into the revision process and apply said suggestions to your manuscript, it’s time for another chat. This is the moment to ask any question or express any doubt about my notes. So, if you feel overwhelmed by my feedback, take a breath, I am not leaving you alone wandering in the dark, I am here to take your hand and guide you through the process.
Last, I offer one round of revision once you have applied my suggestion to your manuscript. If requested, more revisions can be arranged.
Who is it for?
This service is ideal for writers who are preparing to publish or query their book, and would like to receive professional feedback on the full or partial manuscript. It can also be useful for writers who are stuck in edits and seek professional feedback to better their craft.
How much does it cost?
I implement a flat rate system based on size tiers.
There are five size tiers, and each tier is a different rate, and that’s all that the service is going to cost:
- Extra Small: <20k words for a flat rate of 300 Euros
- Small: 20k-50k words for a flat rate of 900 Euros
- Medium: 50k-90k words for a flat rate of 1450 Euros
- Large: 90k-120k words for a flat rate of 1950 Euros
- Extra Large: >120k words for a flat rate of 2400 euros
There is a 5k words grace area between tiers, so, for example, if your manuscript is 93k words, it would still fall under the Medium size, and not the Large.
A 25% deposit is required at booking, and payment of the rest before the feedback is delivered. If, after booking, you choose to cancel, you get a full refund of the deposit unless you cancel within 14 days from the beginning of the service. Refunds aren’t issued if the service has been completed.
Extra calls and revisions are charged 60 euros and 75 euros each, they can be added at booking or later if requested.
Payment Plans can be arranged if requested.
I don’t use AI in any way for editing, and I do not accept manuscripts that have been written using AI.
